The Secret Spot is a real place

The original Secret Spot is located just off stage right in this painting by the very talented Debbie Drayton — featuring my Abuelita climbing up the hill. I’m forever grateful for this place where I fell in love with nature.
Our family once had a farm in the hills of Western Pennsylvania. "The Secret Spot" comes from a hidden corner of that farm where we spent our childhood exploring the woods, running through fields, and telling stories around a campfire. It was every bit as idyllic as it sounds. My aunts and Abuelita made the family farm a sanctuary for anyone who walked through the door, and that sense of hospitality has been a guiding force in everything I do.

Our Mississippi flower farm began in 2022 as a tiny cinderblock house, a sprawling oak tree, and a few acres of possibility. My partner Michael and I failed a lot. We learned a lot. And somehow, we grew some flowers that first year.
We're now in our fourth year of growing blooms on our no-till, entirely organic farm. We added a flock of goofy ducks, who, despite pooping everywhere, earn their keep with pest control and fresh eggs.
Our flower studio—focused on sustainable, seasonal designs—officially launched in May 2024. It has been an honor to create florals for so many celebrations. And now, as we move into our fifth growing season, a long-held dream is finally coming to life. In March 2025, The Secret Spot opened its doors next to Junebug. We offer flower deliveries, workshops, and a curated selection of gifts and treasures.
We can't wait to welcome you!
Good Design is Sustainable Design

Local Flowers
At The Secret Spot Flowers we prioritize using locally grown blooms.
Using local flowers allows us to reduce the carbon footprint associated with imported flowers. Imported flowers have generally flown thousands of miles and are often wrapped in single use plastic packaging.
Buying local flowers allows us to keep our spending power in the local economy and support a network of local growers (many of which are women-led farms).
We choose local flowers for their unparalleled beauty. Mass-produced blooms just can’t match the charm and natural movement of field-grown stems.

Foam-Free
The Secret Spot is proudly a foam-free design studio.
Floral foam is a plastic-based material used to hold arrangements which is composed of toxic chemicals. As foam degrades, it becomes microplastics that pollute waterways and can cause long-term damage.
We avoid floral foam entirely, using alternatives like reusable chicken wire, twine, and flower frogs. These eco-friendly options reduce waste and encourage creative, sustainable designs.

Composting & Green Waste
At The Secret Spot, we’re intentional about what happens after the flowers leave our hands.
Green waste from the shop and studio — stems, foliage, and organic material from design work — is composted rather than discarded. Whenever possible, we compost green waste at our farm so that we can return material back to the soil it came from.
It’s a small but meaningful part of our process: closing the loop, reducing what we send to landfill, and making sure that green waste has a useful second life in the ground.
